Recovery at home

Today has been a mellow recovery day at home. We're transitioning our pain medication, so it was a little rough this AM, but we're back in the groove. Yay Vicoden! In the hospital, I was doing 3 "laps" around the nurses station using an IV pole for support. Today I did a "lap" around our apartment complex and even did a set of stairs. Sheila said I looked like I needed some more vitamin D so we hung out by the pool for a few minutes taking it easy. The more I move, the less it will hurt tomorrow. We'll see our docs on Friday (urologist, surgeon, oncologist) and go from there.

While I was working in Glacier Bay back in the 80's, I heard a story about this guy who jumped into the frigid Alaskan waters to swim after his kayak that was floating away. To do something like that, one would have to be rather nutty, spontaneous, EXTREMELY optimistic, strong and determined in the face of tough challenge. I must say, you haven't changed a bit, Mark... your smiling face says so.

So nice of you to help the hospital out with JACHO inspection practice. Sooo glad they kicked you out. Sending you and Sheila lots and lots of good thoughts and hugs and wishes for a speedy return to home and friends. ~Smack

Hey, I know that story... and I would like to add, that anyone who can do clandestine surveillance of, and strategic attack planning against a tree on a pontoon boat, well he could do anything, especially if road paving equipment is available.

Glad you are doing so well!

S&M, Hey... Mark you look GRAND. Just got back from Boston and i have to tell you, going to the blog was one of the first things I did. As you all know, i don't watch TV, but Liz tells me there are some funny shows out there - Office, etc. I have heard about "24". I guess you are my "24", Mark. Sheila, your clinical excellence continues to shine bright. There is nothing better than a good ole' cardiovascular intensive care nurse for EXTREME makeovers, huh? I hope each day is better than the last as your post-op pains and aches become less and less. put some leg waights on for the next walk up the stairs... xoxo grandee

Hi S&M,

We're back after an eventful Bahama cruise. The last night, there was a low off the US and a low forming in the Bahamas, so it was a rock'n'roll trip with much pitching of the ship and pukin' of the passengers.

However, I did manage to take pictures of my 'Mark' bracelet several times. I will post them on my blog.

Thanks be to God that you are doing so well. You all are never far from my thoughts and my heart.

Love and xoxoxo...gene

Nothing better for one's spirit than to get out of the hospital and to a place one can call home, especially when there is an awesome nurse to give you undivided attention!

I do believe in divine intervention and the power of prayer and Mark what you just said confirms that. You have had so many people praying for you and sending wonderful and powerful thoughts that it couldn't have turned out any other way!!!

Now take another lap around the complex and another jaunt up the stairs but this time do it for DBC and Surge!

Love ya and hurry home, Alice and Chris
