long day

sorry we weren't able to post earlier, it's been a long day. Mark was doing well in the morning, but his pain really got bad during the middle of the day. Anderson has a good pain service, but it took until late this afternoon to see a smile from Mark. It's not unexpected to have severe pain after 8 hours of surgery, but it is hard to watch in someone you love. good days, bad days...we having both at the same time.

Dear Sheila and Mark,
Tell the pain management folks "10+" every time they ask you "on a scale of 1-10.....". Keep yourself as comfortable as possible and chair sitting and those little walkies will go smoother, more comfortably and hopefully you won't even remember them in a couple of days. Amazing how many things are involved when you get OOB; poles, pumps, bags and flapping gowns to keep under control- Just keep singing your new theme song and Be Happy!
You are both in my prayers and thoughts.
Much love,
Marjorie

i remember these days... as if the pain, gown and tubes aren't enough. everyone asks the very personal question, "have you passed gas yet?" as casually as they might ask,"do you take milk in your coffee?"
hope today brings comfort and....

O.K pain, bound to happen...First 3 days are the kicker. I don't care how talented those guys in surgery are, they have big hands and their moving things around in there!!! I agree with Marjorie and Lynda but would add one tiny suggestion...Pain on a scale of 1-10? Try saying 15 or 2075. Don't be modest!!! Once they find the magic ingredient, keep hitting the button and before you know it, you'll be back on the Ashley organizing diabolical DB practices ( Did I hear anyone say, pain on a scale of 1-10?) and managing, like the rest of us quit nicely... Thank you very much, on Advil and Wine o'clock.
Hang in there and Sing On!!!!
We're pulling for ya. Sheila don't forget the REST part. Hugs to you both. P
